Northeast Shangri-La. The VIMS “Bunny Ears” centered at 27.5°N 141.8°W in northeast Shangri-La. This VIMS R=5μm, G=2μm, B=1.3μm contrast-enhanced image from the Tb flyby (2004 December 13) shows an area where the dunes start to peter out with no obvious topographic control at the northeast end of Shangri-La, north of Xanadu. Could the sand be organizing itself into fast-moving Barchan chains instead of longitudinal forms to transport the sand eastward from here?.
